THE BRIEF
Located in inner city Melbourne, the owners wished to undertake a major renovation, maintaining the existing Classical, elegant structure from the front but completely renewing from behind.
My objective, was to design and specify high end items which will appeal to the owner.
THE CONCEPT
The material palette is inspired from the textures and earthy tones of Melbourne river banks and landscapes, applying dark and light timbers, mixed black and bronze metals and pops of colour when you turn a corner.
THE DESIGN
Upon entering the home the ceiling boasts of 4 metre high ceilings with large drop down pendants to accentuate the height.
The colour palette and materials are a combination of luxurious and natural, with pops of colours as you turn corners. Wide timber floor boards underfoot, interplayed with rich dark green carpet reflect the colours of nature. Light and Dark timber cabinetry, stone benchtops, black and brass hardware add layers to the space.
The repetition of marble and light warm timber used in the all the bathrooms give the space a continuous flow. Accent colours are added to the guests and kids bathroom for an element of surprise. The ground floor powder room is a stand alone showpiece with black herringbone floor to ceiling tiles, bronze tapware, a feature brass pendant.
Every element in the design has been considered to welcome an easier life. Ergonomics, size and time saving conveniences, high end appliances are features that distinguish the hardworking space.
